Get to Know Ghana with These Podcasts

By Jesse Ababio

The youth have the microphones and they are not holding back. Just after the global pandemic, the popularity of Ghanaian podcasts has grown and they provide a wide variety of content that represents the nation's rich culture, history, and contemporary challenges.

Ghanaian podcasts present an exceptional chance to interact with local voices and viewpoints, whether they are examining the music scene in Ghana, talking about social justice concerns, sharing personal tales, or examining entrepreneurship and self-improvement.

Here is a list of my favorite Ghanaian podcasts.

1. If More Let's Divide Podcast (IMLD)

IMLD is a Ghanaian podcast hosted by @frederick_eliz and @mutombodapoet. The podcast centers on everything culture, from Ghanaian music to fashion and lifestyle.

3. Sincerely Accra

Joseph Nti (Host) and Kwame Asante Ofori (Producer) bring you a fast-paced, colorful, and heated podcast based on urban life in Ghana’s capital, Accra. Episodes alternate between vox pops and in-studio interviews featuring a mix of vibrant personalities. The podcast is released on Mondays every two weeks and is a part of the Gold Coast Report podcast network. The show is fast-paced, colorful, and heated just like the city!

4. Free Your Mind

“Free Your Mind” is a popular Ghanaian colloquialism which means to let loose…to tell it exactly as it is. Everything is fair game on this show and the hosts, Tatas and Wanlov, don’t hold back.

6. BlacVolta Nightlife Podcast

7. Sunday Fufu

A space for men to openly have unfiltered conversations they have been sensitized not to have and to freely express themselves as they navigate their way through our evolving society. The show looks to give men the opportunity to change narratives such as “men are trash” as they provide more insight into the worldview and daily life of the average man.

Sunday Fufu also gives boys and young men the platform to explore different facets of their personalities, lifestyles, and beliefs in an effort to understand themselves more as they transition from boys to men.

Make sure to recommend any of these podcasts to a friend!
