Winneba Fancy Dress Masquerade | Indigenous Foreigner Show

Ghana has experienced a steep rise in foreign and domestic travel in recent years, peaking with The Year of Return campaign of 2019. After a period of travel unpredictability during the global coronavirus pandemic, the country is now as open as ever to travelers with a few new requirements.

In this episode we embark on a journey to Winneba, about 30 miles from Ghana's capital, Accra. On the first Saturday of every January, the town hosts a masquerade festival which has gone on for nearly a century. Join us in learning more about this unique tradition in a West African town.
